News in Conservation, Issue 74, October 2019

As you may have noticed in recent years, the need for greater diversity within our profession has been quite a hot topic. There are several new initiatives and programs being developed in order to introduce conservation to a wider range of students coming from more diverse economic, cultural, and racial backgrounds. In this issue of NiC, we are highlighting two of these programs—the Andrew W. Mellon Opportunity for Diversity in Conservation and the Princeton Art Museum’s partnership with HBCUs—and we are also inaugurating the new Student & Emerging Conservator section of the magazine.
