Welcome to the February issue of News in Conservation, the first for 2013! In this issue the winners of the Student Poster Award at the 2012 IIC Vienna Congress talk of their experience and their future projects. Jonathan Tetley, manager at the tetley Workshop, England UK, discusses conductivity for the treatment of carpets from historic houses and in NiC's third long feature, Antonino Cosentino a conservation scientist turned blogger discusses the use of social platforms to provide tutorials on methods for art examination and documentation, focussing specifically on innovative low-budget scientific solutions. In this issue we continue with the series of reviews on conservation journals with a review of News Zealand publications provided by Heike Winkelbauer. Finally, all there is to know on the latest news and events from the world.
