Gordon Research Seminar on Scientific Methods in Cultural Heritage 6-7 July 2024

Gordon Research Seminar on Scientific Methods in Cultural Heritage Research taking place July 6th and 7th, 2024 in Les Diablerets, Switzerland. If you want to be considered for an oral presentation, you need to apply before March 31st.

The Scientific Methods in Cultural Heritage Research GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers (or similar) to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with your peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.

Topics of interest within the seminar include, but are not limited to:
- Advances in scientific techniques for preventative conservation
- Fundamental investigations on heritage material degradation pathways
- Accessibility of cutting-edge instrumentation to museum professionals
- Greener methods of cleaning with solvents for the conservation profession (keynote lecture by Katrien Keune)
The content of the presentations along with the format of the seminar will encourage communication among emerging professionals in the diverse fields that impact Cultural Heritage science.

On Sunday, we will have a mentorship component "Perspectives on Nurturing and Sustaining Careers in Heritage Science" with Katrien Keune, Francesca Casadio and Erich Uffelman as panel members.
