Obituary: Stephen G Rees-Jones

Stephen G Rees-Jones died peacefully at home on 14th January 2024. He was born in 1941and studied archaeological conservation at the Institute of Archaeology, UCL. He went on to be conservation officer at Ulster Museum/Queen’s University Belfast 1961-71. He was Field Conservation Officer for the University of Pennsylvania, Mohenjo Daro Expedition in West Pakistan 1964-65 and went on to take up the post of Keeper of Conservation at City Museum & Art Gallery, Birmingham, 1971-78 and to follow in his father’s footsteps as Director of the Technology Department, Courtauld Institute of Art, London, 1978-1991 and was a fellow and treasurer of IIC.
