Abstract: Welcome to the new issue of NiC, the first sporting IIC’s brand-new look! The new look follows some other changes that you might (I hope!) have noticed, namely the addition of some new sections to our e-paper, including the Fellowship corner, the Book review area and IIC’s President column From the President’s Desk. This is a good opportunity to thank Will Shank, our Book Review editor whose work ensures that we have a steady stream of interesting books to add to our reading lists. Funding cuts to museums are sadly experienced the world over but lately the attention focused on the situation of institutions in the United States; on page three we feature statements made by US museums in response to budget cut threats made by the new Trump’s administration. In this issue Thomas Bower and Puneeta Sharma present their work on a collection of prints from Magdalene College in Cambridge. Following on we have a multi-author paper exploring a collaboration between established professionals and emerging conservators working on a project at the North Carolina Museum of art involving three works by Francescuccio Ghissi. The latest roundtable discussion in IIC’s dialogues initiative – Viral Images. Exploring the historic and conservation challenges of objects created for social protest and solidarity – took place at the Met in February.
