Welcome to the June Issue of News in Conservation. In this issue Ruth Stevens, an independent paper conservator talks about an interesting new venture: a consortium of independent conservators offering their services to an underserved area in the UK. In times of crisis and loss of employment opportunities it is enlightening to see people making it on their own.
Following on, Aurélie Isebaert and Prof. Laurent Van Parys from the University of Mons, Belgium, present a paper discussing a genetic-based approach to selecting optimal repair material for stone repairs, very useful an article with a highly practical potential for conservators involved in the treatment of architectural heritage.
The IIC News section is packed with information – membership renewal, a sneak preview of the forthcoming volume of SiC, a call for posters for the Hong Kong IIC Congress, news from IIC’s LinkedIn initiative and finally news about the Student Congress.
Last but not least in the series on non-English conservation periodicals, the first installment of a two-part review on journals in French – written in French!
