In the present study the amino acid analyses of five protein-containing media were first ascertained. Then several specimens, both antique and modern, whose identity was unknown to the analyst, were assayed. The application of quantitative amino acid assay was found to be a useful and accurate means of determining the nature of protein media when sufficient peptide (protein) material was present.
