Interpol, the international police organisation has announced the launch of a new website featuring a database of stolen artwork worldwide. Police forces will have access to the website-other users will have to apply for access to the resource which contains details about more than 34000 stolen works.
The website will include descriptions and photographs of stolen items and will be updated continuously. The database will be open all interested parties such as governments, museums, galleries and collectors. The organisation hope that the resource will make it harder for stolen goods to be bought and sold.
