Abstract:

The colour illustrations in this article of micro-cross-sections at a magnification of 50X show the effect of the use of a cover slip and of polarized light. No improvement can be guaranteed by using either cover-glass or polarized light. Very often, however, the cover-glass improves the picture and the polarizer intensifies the colour and sometimes differentiates areas better. Garry Thomson
