Abstract:

Dimethyl formamide is reported to be a successful solvent vapor to use in reforming a blanched oil painting damaged by water. The suspended bottomless box used in the operation is described and illustrated. The medium and pigments of the painting were analyzed and examined to study the precise effect of the method.
