Suggests a technique whereby the swords with "welded damask" (pattern welded swords) could have been made. The technique here outlined consists in winding and welding strips around a central core. This core furnishes the material for the cutting edges, while the strips form the damask. Figures in the text illustrate the different phases of the work.
