INFRARED AND RAMAN USERS GROUP (IRUG 13) CONFERENCE - Call for Papers

The Thirteenth Infrared and Raman User's Group (IRUG 13) conference will be held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, December 5-7, 2018. The conference will include oral and poster presentations addressing all aspects of the application of infrared and Raman spectroscopies to the study of cultural artifacts and their preservation, as well as applications in forensic science.

Conservator, Adam Matthew Digitisation Project

Fixed term for 2 years

The British Library leads and collaborates in growing the world's knowledge base. We have signed a partnership with Adam Matthew Digital to make thousands of digitised historic documents and manuscripts available online to researchers, scholars and the general public. The Conservation department, which comprises some 50 people, is responsible for the care of one of the largest, richest and most diverse research collections in the world.
This is an opportunity for a qualified Conservator to work closely with the Project Conservator and Imaging Team, Project Manager and Curators. You will be based in the Adam Matthew imaging studio carrying out the ordering and condition checking of collection material to ensure the workflow; plan and conduct the preparation treatments on a range of collection items that are being digitised as part of this project. You?ll operate with minimal supervision and have the skills and knowledge to plan, manage and track your work to ensure that deadlines are met. You must be able to communicate effectively with people at all levels, and be able to keep clear, consistent and accurate records of all activities undertaken.

International workshop Palermo: cultural heritage, migration and sustainable development

This initiative is organized by the University of Palermo, the Royal Netherlands Institute in Rome and supported by the The UNESCO Heritage Foundation of Sicily, ICOMOS Italia, Centro Studi Silvia Santagata EBLA of Turin and many other relevant partners.

Lectures will be held in prestigious historic buildings, such as Palazzo Alliata di Villafranca, Teatro Massimo, Palazzo S.Elia, and significant neighborhoods of the city in order to stimulate a field analysis approach between participants.

Associate Paintings Conservator

The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for an associate paintings conservator in The David Booth Conservation department to assist in treatments of collection works for the 2019 Museum re-opening. This is a fixed term position, starting immediately until December 31, 2019.

Reporting to the Paintings conservators and the Agnes Gund chief conservator, the incumbent will have the following additional responsibilities:

Examines, documents, and treats paintings from the collection in preparation for the 2019 Museum re-opening.
