As one of the few Conservation programmes in the UK we are looking to further develop our staffing base with colleagues who value both research and pedagogical excellence. Our MA programmes provides intensive career development for students looking to enter the profession or go on to Conservation research. Within Conservation MA Preventive Conservation and MA Conservation of Fine Art are currently offered and we are looking to review and develop new programmes within the subject engaging Conservation staff.

The successful candidate will join the Department of Arts and will work in a thriving and busy team which includes world-leading researchers in fine art practice, cultural management, design history, and art history.

You will be responsible for contributing to an exceptional student experience through the delivery of teaching, research, and knowledge exchange activity. We are looking for a colleague who shares our values and passion for teaching and is committed to providing the highest quality student experience. You must also have excellent research outputs with clear research and publication plans for the future including around grant capture. You will utilise this expertise to deliver outstanding research-informed teaching at postgraduate levels. It is recognised that in this discipline you may have recently or near completed your PhD.

Applications from candidates with research and teaching expertise in paper conservation. The successful candidate will supervise paper conservation dissertations and lead on paper conservation specialism teaching within MA Conservation of Fine Art.

Currently, due to COVID-19, academic staff will normally be on campus for approximately two days per week when face to face teaching is scheduled, and as required to undertake research using specialist facilities. In Conservation the timetable works out as 4 days on campus in any 15 day period (one week on, one week off).
