INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION 

The Conservation Research lab at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art has been expanding the analytical capability for years. Recently the lab was able to purchase a state of the art Py-GCMS.

Reporting to the Head Scientist, the intern will work with the newly acquired Py-GCMS. The intern will be creating a standard operating procedure for the instrument, which will be used by the staff and future scientists. Additionally, the intern will research sample preparation techniques to determine the best options for the type of work conducted in the lab.

At the end of the internship a short demo of the Py-GCMS will be given to selected conservation staff.

 

This is a paid internship, 16 hours per week, $17.28 per hour.

Anticipated Internship period: 11/1/2024 - 3/28/2025 

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • This internship is appropriate for current master’s students / recent graduate students from a masters program (*LACMA’s definition of ‘recently graduated’: within 1 year after graduation) who are eligible to work in the US including visa holders with a work permit

  • If you need to meet certain criteria to obtain academic credit, please include them in the cover letter to verify if the LACMA internship can meet the requirements
