Job Details
Join our Collections Services department as the Paper Conservation Manager, where you'll lead the paper conservation studio and serve as the senior specialist responsible for preserving the Museum’s extensive and diverse paper-based collections. These include art on paper, library and archive material, globes, ship plans, photographs, and film-based media.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, 2D Conservation, you will manage and supervise the paper conservation team, oversee their professional development, and ensure the successful delivery of the Museum’s exhibitions and loans programme. Your role will involve conducting condition assessments, performing complex conservation treatments, and contributing to research that enhances the understanding of our collections.
We seek a candidate with substantial experience in the conservation of paper-based collections within a gallery, museum, library, or archive setting. You should have experience in coordinating and preparing items for loans and exhibitions, alongside strong leadership and staff management skills. Familiarity with COSHH and Health and Safety requirements, excellent communication abilities, and computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft applications and museum collections management systems, are essential.
If you have a passion for paper conservation and the skills to manage a dynamic team, we encourage you to apply.
Salary: £42,000 plus excellent benefits
