The Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis in The Hague (The Netherlands) is offering a 9 to 12 months fellowship/internship in Paintings Conservation, which will take place in the academic year 2021/2022. Applicants can be recent American graduates (no more than 3 years ago) of a conservation program, or American students who require an internship during their last year in conservation training. This opportunity is offered in collaboration with the University of Amsterdam, The Fulbright Center and with the financial support of the American Friends of the Mauritshuis.

The Mauritshuis is renowned for its high quality collection of 17th century Dutch master paintings, like Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals and Jan Steen. Its conservation department has an active international team of three conservators, a conservation scientist, interns and freelancers.

The work focuses not only on treatment, but also on in-depth technical research of the paintings. Past applicants have expressed how valuable they found this extra year of experience abroad.

Please be aware that the DEADLINE FOR THE APPLICATION IS ALREADY OCTOBER 13th 2020.

If you are still enrolled at an university, check with your Fulbright Office at the university for earlier deadlines.
