Digitisation Technician - West Cumbria Industrial History Project
Salary: £22 183 - £23 080
Workbase: Carlisle Archive Centre Petteril Bank Rd Carlisle CA1 3AJ UK
Hours: 22.2 hours per week (Wednesday to Friday)
Contract: Fixed term (2.5 years)
We are seeking a digitisation technician to join our digitisation team working within the archive service.
This role is to facilitate the regular upload and preservation of the digital archive including the collection of metadata and the updating of catalogue records digital capture of archive material by scanning and digital photography and the digitisation of audio records.
The successful candidate must have a high degree of personal organisational skills good administrative experience and the ability to demonstrate accuracy consistency and attention to detail. A key part of the role will be managing the metadata and data storage of digital content. It is also essential that the successful candidate has experience of using scanning and photographic equipment image processing software projects and handling archive or museum items. They will also require a knowledge of procedures and standards around recording and processing metadata.
This is a great opportunity to develop technical skills and engage with fascinating historical material while supporting online access to Cumbria's written heritage.
The post is fixed term for 2.5 years.
