Salary: $27.56 per hour, 37.5 hour work week.

This two-year term conservation technician position will support the boxing and custom housing requests generated through the Beinecke Library's backlog resolution project. The incumbent will be responsible fulfilling housing requests for standard, oversized, and custom housing for catalogers and archivists processing backlog collections for discovery and access. Will design and construct protective enclosures using specialized computer-aided design software to control the output of an automated cutting and scoring machine. The technician will also construct housings by hand using a use a variety of materials, tools and adhesives for a wide range of 2-D and 3-D objects. Handle(s) fragile and rare materials to capture accurate measurements and assess their condition. The incumbent will creatively adapt preservation best practices to varied situations, shelving and handling requirements. This is an opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art conservation laboratory as part of a high-performing team of conservators and technicians.
