Conference And Workshop With Paolo Cremonesi: Materials And Methods For Cleaning Polychrome Surfaces And Elimination Of Film Substances, A Sustainable Approach"

The Andalusian Institute of Historical Heritage, IAPH, organizes this course in which the Spanish Group of the International Institute for Conservation (GE-IIC) collaborates. The Conference and workshop with Paolo Cremonesi: "Materials and methods for cleaning polychrome surfaces and elimination of film substances: a sustainable approach" will take place at the headquarters of the Andalusian Institute of Historical Heritage, in Seville, on March 25,26,27, 2025

We will have Professor Paolo Cremonesi, a chemist and diploma in restoration of paintings on canvas from the Institute for Art and Restoration of Florence.

The days are divided into two parts:

– A one-day theoretical day, for all types of interested audiences, which can be attended in person or online.

– An eminently practical workshop, on the second and third day, for 20 conservation-restoration professionals.

This approach of greater respect is concretized in the choice of materials with a lower impact, but inevitably it must start first of all from a more respectful attitude, from the awareness that it is necessary to moderate the expectations of the restoration intervention.

The purpose of this training activity is above all to contribute to the creation of this mental attitude of respect in the face of artifacts so complex from the point of view of matter, of the often unfathomable motivations of the year in which the work was created and of that motley universe of immaterial values that it possesses.

As for the workshop, it aims to propose an intervention compatible with the specificity of each work, using materials chosen precisely according to the characteristics of the material currently present in it.
