Free one-hour webinar hosted by the Image Permanence Institute (IPI) on the theme "Sustainability on Display: Preservation-Friendly Ways of Reducing the Carbon Footprint of Museum Exhibits".

In this webinar, three cultural heritage professionals will share their work related to preservation-friendly ways of reducing the carbon footprint of museum exhibits. Alice Bonnot, independent curator, writer, and speaker of contemporary art, will introduce the steps for planning and creating an exhibition and the associated carbon footprint for each, with a particular emphasis on transportation decisions. Al Carver-Kubik, research scientist at the Image Permanence Institute, will talk about current research at IPI on sealed frame packages, crating, and transport. He will also discuss sustainable practices such as the use of microclimates and reduced lighting levels. Brenda Baker, artist and director of exhibits at the Madison Children's Museum (MCM), will present green initiatives at MCM with a focus on how exhibits are approached and lessons learned from implementing more sustainable exhibits. She will also introduce greenexhibits.org.
