Michael Duffy of MoMA will give a talk on 'Magritte - The Enchanted Pose rediscovery'
The second of Icon's online evening talks will be taking advantage of the internet's global reach to host Michael Duffy from The Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Michael Duffy holds a B.A. in Art History and a Masters degree in Art Conservation from the University of Delaware / Winterthur program. Since 1993 he has been a conservator at The Museum of Modern Art, where he specialises in the treatment of modern and contemporary paintings. He has the enviable task of working on some of the most iconic paintings in the world. In 2004 he conserved Picasso's 'Les Demoiselles d'Avignon' for the reinstallation of the MoMA galleries.
The talk will present research that was carried out at MoMA for the 2013 exhibition 'Magritte: The Mystery of the Ordinary 1926-1938' and that led to the rediscovery of one of Rene Magritte's paintings from 1927 that was long thought to be lost.
This talk will be free for all so register your interest by reserving a place through Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/michael-duffy-of-moma-magritte-the-enchan...
