The Canadian Association for Conservation of Cultural Property (CAC) is pleased to issue a call for abstracts for our 47th annual conference. The conference will be hosted from May 26 to May 28, 2022.

The conference will be held upon the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, and Mississaugas in the city now known as Hamilton, Ontario. We acknowledge that that land we intend to gather on is part of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant. This agreement was initially made between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabek as an effort to share, care for and protect the natural resources around the Great Lakes. The land and creatures of Great Lakes are represented by the 'dish' and all other Indigenous Nations and Peoples, settlers, and visitors are represented as sharing the 'one spoon'. The agreement invites everyone, in the spirit of peace and friendship, to honour the shared responsibility to ensure that the 'dish' is never emptied.

The National Conference Committee will continue to follow public health guidelines and advice for large gatherings to ensure that we can safely meet for an in-person conference. Updates will be provided throughout the planning process. Based on the feedback we received from our 2021 virtual conference, we do intend to offer virtual attendance options for 2022. More details on this virtual component will be provided at a later date.

CAC are currently requesting presentations ('short' 5 minutes and 'full' 20 minutes) and posters on all aspects of conservation relating to but restricted to artifacts, works of art, natural history specimens, archival materials, built heritage, and conservation science. Papers with connections to the local and surrounding areas of Hamilton, Ontario are also highly encouraged.
