Welcome to Juergen Vervoorst FIIC, new President of IIC
IIC is delighted to announce the election of Juergen Vervoorst, FIIC as its new President. Juergen began his presidency at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday 27th January 2025, which marked the start of IIC's 75th anniversary year.
Juergen has been Head of Collection Care at The National Archives, UK since 2016. Following graduation, he has held positions in major collections and has taught at universities in Germany, Austria, and the UK. In 2022, Juergen completed a programme in Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies at Cambridge University, combining cultural and environmental conservation and merging two of his main interests. Juergen was previously a treasurer and deputy president at IIC, and since 2024 has taken a lead role in delivering the IIC-International Training Centre for Conservation (ITCC) partnership programme with the Palace Museum, Beijing.
Following the election, Juergen commented, "IIC stands for global inclusivity and innovation, where fair access to conservation knowledge will be at the heart of everything we do. I am very honoured to play a part in IIC’s next chapter."
