The Peter Moores Foundation is pleased to be funding the publication of the IIC's 2008 Congress papers. One of the main objectives of the Peter Moores Foundation is to 'get things done and open doors for people' - regardless of cultural background or education. In this respect, the Foundation particularly welcomes the contribution that conservators have made in increasing access to collections - to all members of society. The Foundation recognises the crucial role of conservators in being able to reveal and illuminate many stories within an object - whether how it was made, how it was used, how it was found, the history of ownership or the beauty of the object itself.
It is hoped that this conference and publication will further encourage all conservators to step out of their traditional roles and contribute to the process of bringing collections to life, both through exhibitions and other initiatives, to inspire future generations in an interest and appreciation of our shared cultural heritage.
