ARCHAEOLOGICAL CONSERVATION AND ITS CONSEQUENCES

16th International Congress - Copenhagen - 25-30 August 1996

The 16th International Congress of the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, 25-30 August 1996, in association with the National Museum of Denmark and under the patronage of H.M. Queen Margrethe II.

Under the title Archaeological Conservation and its Consequences, the IIC Congress offered new perspectives on the conservation of archaeological sites and finds, both on land and under water. Particular attention was given to ways in which attitudes toward archaeological conservation have been reassessed in recent years as the consequences of previous approaches have become evident. The Congress aimed to bring together conservators and archaeologists, conservation scientists and historians, curators, collections managers, educators and students.

The proceedings are available from the IIC office. The price is £20.00 (£30 to non members). Postage is free.
